Just wondering if someone can ID this scat? I believe it's a large coyote but a friend insists it is a mountain lion. There is a nickel to the left of it for scale.

I think it is coyote scat too.
Most cat scat has a strong, unpleasant odor, if it is anywhere near fresh, and since you didn't mention the smell, that adds to my thought.

Could be coyote. It is a bit large but being full of hair would account for that maybe.
The coyotes around here choose their scat locations carefully. Usually somewhere prominent as a territory and communication marker.

Could be coyote with deer hair in it. Do you have any bear in the area? Looks like it could have been there for awhile?

You should include some information as to what part of the globe you took the photo. It's obviously a predator but there's probably more than 2 choices, depending on where you live or took the photo.
