Coyote?

Coyote without a doubt. Was this the first you have seen? Coyotes are everywhere. I use to live in a small coastal city in Massachusetts and had coyotes on my street and remember a story of a coyote den in Boston. Now here in Arizona coyotes are a common site and when they start howling you can follow their track from the ranchers dogs barking.

Your photo seems to be a typical size female.

without a doubt thats a coyote, looks like the eastern variety. they are larger and their tails are not as bushy as the western variety. we have loads of them in my area, they have been know to take small house pets, small livestock like sheep,goats,chickens,and calfs. they will also sometimes send in a female to try to get domestic dogs to follow and then when the domestic is out of its safety zone the pack will surround it and attack.

We had a german sheppard type of dog come to the house then had puppies. Which we took care of while trying to locate owner. So being summer time she was raising the pup's on the front porch where sheltered from rain or weather.
In the middle of the night a dog fight started on deck and porch and getting to window the deck was covered with coyotes fighting the dog. Opened the door and in dressed in bvd's yelled and scattered the coyotes. I assume they were after the pup's but were fighting the mother to get to them.
In the same year saw several times a mother coyote raising black dog type of pup's and one would hide behind a bush and bark like a dog but others were like coyote and slink away and hide.
We have lost calves new born. With only a trail of hide or bone showing where they were drug then eaten.
Think coyotes are animals of opertunity what ever is available will be taken.

Definatley a female coyote. I rased 2 that were orphaned at the landfill looked like that one.

Them possums are mean. Not sure that a coyote would want to tangle with one.

No bout adout it! Female coyote, still nursing. I've seen em looking a lot like foxes and some a lot like crosbred labs (not too pronounced, though).

This'ns coloration and shape is a typical coyote to me.

That's a beautiful animal!

The one here that I got the best look at (and a photo) was pretty scruffy.
