Thanks Jim. Sorry I didn't respond sooner but got busy. If I understand your post corrctly it sounds like the solenoid could be bad intermittently, if an intermittent failure is possible. Thanks again for your time and response.
I suspect that if a solenoid were operating intermittently, a bad electrical connection or something else is causing a power interruption to the solenoid. In my experience, the most common problem results from varnish buildup and can be corrected with a good cleaning.:thumbsup:

I had a simalar issue on weedeater BS 18hp tractor. I took the "float bowl" off and solenoid off. found the bottom of bowl is full of rust and solenoid sticky from rust. I sprayed the plunger with wd40 and played with plunger from soleniod until the spray ran clear and plunger moved freely. everything was fine since.
