I have an older craftsman garage door opener. Wanting to get a few more remotes and wondered about possibly upgrading the receiver to security+ remotes.

I see a deviced called a 355LM receiver. Wondering if this would do what I'm looking to do? Anyone have any experience with doing this? If so wonder how well this receiver works or should I look at a different model? would the existing remotes still work with the built in receiver?

I bet that if you look around you can get a whole new door opener for close to the cost of an upgrade...

There is a lot of competition on the prices of common articles, no nearly so much on prices of specialty things.

You can get just the receiver and remotes at the box stores. I replaced my receiver/remotes at HD a few years ago for around $50. I have a good solid screw drive mechanism that has quite a few years left on it, but the internal receiver was acting up and It only had one remote when I bought the house. The standalone receiver connects where your door control pushbutton connects and gives the same contact closure that the in-garage button gives to control the door.
