Craftsman powered by Honda vs. others

( Let me first preface by saying I love Honda Motors, I worked on the cars for years & have genuine respect for the company. )

Completely agree. I have two Hondas and they are rock solid.

Of the new low end tractors I have compared - Toro LX, JD 125, Husquvarna 1942 and the Craftsman with the Honda engine - the Craftsman - although it is more expensive that the rest (anywhere between $100 to 400 more) seems the most attractive to me just because of the Honda engine.

Like the other poster, I'd be interested to know if this was a economy Honda engine or not. I'll head into the sears store to check out what engine it is.

I keep stuff for a LONG time and take good care of it so I usually don't mind spending more. Ideally I'd buy another Kubota but just can't justify the extra $$$ it will cost me.

I'm a Honda Engine Dealer and I can't find a listing for a 16 hp engine. My books go from 13 hp to 18 hp.
As for the Honda Engine one will outlast three B&S's. I sell/repair construction equipment and I can let a Honda Engine sit out in the yard for months and it will start on the first pull. The new ones start on the first pull right out of the box. They are also very easy to work on.

( Electrux and AYP are one and the same. Electrux is the parent company, which divisions like AYP, Frigidiare, etc. AYP makes most of the tractors for Sears, Poulan, Husqarvarna, Weedeater, among others. )

I thought they were sub-contracting, but AYP certainly is owned by Electrolux; so obvious, I'd never thought of it!
