Can anyone provide a pic that shows where the black plastic fitting on the carb end of the throttle cable goes? It's a 32cc, 18" weed eater. I know shudda taken a pic.
Cheers

Thanks for the reply, DJ. Been at the sears website & it doesn't show the location of the part in question, thats why I needed a pic of one installed. There is no posible way I can see that this can fit on the machine, but it was! It looks like model 358.797161-32cc , 18"

Anybody home? Is this posted in the right place?

Hmmm.. Yeah shows it as part #1 in the first diagram, but not where it mounts, as you mentioned. From the imprint on it, looks like a large head screw. Possibly one that holds a cover on..?? Got to be near the carb. I've got an older one around here somewhere. I'll look, if I can find it.

Do you actually need it? I'm currently putting a new ring in my 21cc and that bracket isn't part of the equation unless it's on the end where the throttle "finger controlled" lever is located, which comes off with the cable when you separate the motor from the shaft and all that. Mine just slips through a slot (guide) in the plastic housing and connects to the carb just as yours does, without any restraint.

Work the trigger and see if the shaft moves in and out without it connected to anything. If so, hook everything up (except the bracket) and see if the trigger controls the carb throttle lever properly. If so, get rid of the bracket if you can't find a place for it.

The black plastic fitting on the carb end of the throttle is to keep the cable sheath from moving. W/o it anchored to anything, the sheath just moves back & forth when working the trigger. It has to be anchored to something, or it won't work. The mystery continues.

Could you move the throttle cable out of the way and the fuel line and take a clear picture of the trimmer where the carb mounts. Your cable mounts to the back wall area behind where the cable is hanging in your first picture but isn't clear enough to tell you where the locator pins go or the mounting screw that holds it in place.

Many thanks for your reply, Randy, after what you said, & taking another pic, I think I see where it goes. Looks like it would fit in about the 1:0

0 o'clock position. Two holes for the pins & one for the screw that secures it. I just can't believe I didn't see this before, duh! Boy, don't ever get old.
Thanks again for your help
Cheers

You can even see the dirt outline of where it connect at the 1 o'clock position like you said.

Glad you've figured it out. I looked at my Craftsman trimmer last night. It looked to me like the black bracket was anchored under the carb, but it was hard to see...I didn't want to take it all apart since things I take apart usually end up permanently trashed (on the plus side, at least after I've dismantled them, they fit in the trash easier).
