Cranks but does not start

I had a similar problem with a car that was given to me because no one could get it to start including the dealer. It turned out to be an open 10 gauge wire between the ignition switch and the fuse block. A jumper with scotchlocks fixed the problem. I finally sold it after putting 185000 miles on it. Never had a problem with thew wiring again.

Beezfun, I have checked the two wire female connecter for the fuel solenoid and both connections are getting power when the ignition is switched on. The solenoid works and tractor runs when jumped straight from the battery but does not run when connector is used. So I am stumped. Any suggestions?

Excellent job narrowing down the problem. Can you post a picture of the solenoid and explain how you connect the jumpers that work. Depending on how you're connecting the jumpers that work, it sounds like you may have it narrowed down to the male connector/wire on the solenoid itself.

Do the two tests shown on this page from the WSM.
Do them carefully!!!!!!!

Once you have done both, report back especially the two resistance values.

Solenoid has power & the starter will not turn over but will if direct boost from battery:

Look into the starter wiring lines: check fuses and relays. battery grounded properly. Power at key and at starter when trying to start.
Safety switches and all control levers in proper position.
