Thanks. Someday I will have a real welding table like Carl and Terry. Note the little vise is quickly removable for larger jobs.

Apologies as I haven't read any replies yet... I love the idea... but I think the length of your plate is a little long and will not be flat. For that size you need better support reaching nearer to the ends in my opinion.

But I did just what you are proposing... I salvaged an old Craftsman roll away tool chest out of a recycle dumpster, fixed it, and tacked a 4ft long 1/2in plate on top of it. I have limited space and until I can afford the space and the cost, it does fine for small work. I use an auxiliary roller support table for bigger jobs and the real big ones still on the floor unfortunately. Make a custom stand with heavy duty casters and you can maybe build in a tool chest or shelfs or...

I agree, it will need some additional support. I thought I could incorporate it into the brackets to attach the top to the tool chest.

Here is my welding table. I can load and unload the object to be welded from a truck and it is adjustable height. Like some other members I have a welding table, but has so much crap piled on it I use the forklift instead. Also my welding table can't lift a 500 pound backhoe bucket onto it.

Not infinite, just between 0 and about 15 feet.

It is also higher than the ceiling where I park my forklift and higher than my mig leads are long. I could move to the other part of the shop and use the stick welder and a ladder though. dde00

That is where my mobile table really shines.

I just finished a 34"x60" table with an additional 24" cutting table on one end. I can totally see that happening!!!!
