Creative Uses of Old Air Hose??

Does anyone have any good creative uses of old air hose?

I just replaced mine because I burned a few holes in it by letting it get too close to the heater. I was going to just throw it away, but then I thought that someone in this forum must have some clever genious way to use old air hose.

It would depend on the Length, mine usually dry rot and not good for anything except spare fittings. Short ones can be used for small air tanks

If you have to stake up a tree you can use it to cover the wire to keep it from cutting into the trunk of the tree.

Ok- I admit I'm a packrat. I have a 25' hose right now that a piece of welding slag fell on and melted a hole through. Of course the hole is near the middle. I just can't bring myslef to throw out the hose- somebody help me
I'll eventually find something I need it for, but that typically happens the day after I dispose of something.....

That's funny. I have the same problem. 25' of hose, welding slag in the middle. Not sure what to do now. I do have a splice kit, but can't bring myself to use it.

I have some of those brass fittings that splice the line back together with a couple small hose clamps. A portion blows out...just cut and splice, splice, splice! Garden hose is the same way.

My hose is 50' long, but it's the cheapy Homier Tools kind that I bought from the traveling gypsies.

I only paid $6 for the hose. That was 5 years ago and I've used it often since. The hose doesn't owe me a thing. I don't know if it's worth splicing. I can see using it around trees and stuff like that though.

Redbug, How much did that splice kit cost and where did you get it?

I've used short pieces to bridge the gap in old piston rings. I put my angle grinder wheels on the ring, slide the piece of hose to close the gap and then hang it on a nail.

Depending on the damage.. I'd double-barbed air hose back together.. otr at least cut it to fit smarrer applications.

It makes good insulating gromets or sleaves when running wires on a tractor thru and around sheet metal as well!

Sure it can be spliced but the hose clamps are always catching on something dragging the hose around... Besides when HF has their weekly hose sale a new hose isn't but about twice what a splice kit is! Right now they have a 25' 3/8 air hose for $4.99, whats a splice with clamps - 2 or 3 bucks?
