Credit Card Early Warning Fraud Calls uptick???

I know discover will cut you off if it sees purchases out of your regular area. They used to shut me off back when my MIL moved to the coast and I drove over with the wife. Eventually they figured out I go monthly etc...

Yes, calls are on the rise.

If I use the card for gasoline to fill several cars at once, I get a call.
Also, for purchases at an unusual distance from home.

Lately, it has been a text message to my phone to which I can respond immediately...sufficient information re location and amount of the charge is provided so that if it were a fraud situation I would recognize it.

Wish I knew what I could do to protect myself, but things like date of birth, ss#, DL#, don't change....nevertheless, am glad that there is at least some triggers which can be hit, possibly stopping a true fraud.

Locoweed and dmccarty, how long ago did you have a problem with Discover? I've been using a Discover card more than any other since 1987 and have had no complaints with them in 27 years. Twice in that 27 years, charges that were not mine showed up, I called, they removed the charges, promptly sent me new cards with new numbers, and a letter for me to sign if I'd be willing to help prosecute if the culprits should be apprehended, which of course, I'd be more than happy to do....

I canceled the Discover card about 25 years ago over a service/billing issue that ticked me off.

The Discover card issued with my wifey's checking account information was 2-3 years ago. This still has not be resolved in spite of the lies we hear every time we call Discover.
