Critique my shop design

Great stuff guys. I had intended to keep the wood shop vacuum and the compressor in the same space but someone told me it would just destroy my compressor. The dust would get into the compressor and kill it.

Tompet, if the quotes come back too crazy then we will go back to a normal roof pattern. As noted, we are into modern architecture and would like this not to be the norm. but also don't want it to cost us an arm and a leg.

My shop is 40 x 108. 16 ft TOS @ OH 16 x 12 doors, 12 ft TOS @ front, small mezzanine above tool room. No dedicated second floor. Roof Pitch slightly greater than 1 in 12. Roof deck is 3/4" OSB T&G, roof membrane Firestone .060" reinforced fully adhered EPDM. Like monoslope buildings. Secondary OH doors are 10 x 8 and 10 x 10, 2 man doors @ 3 x 7. And with that all the toys do not fit.

With 45 foot span, you will probably have a joint in the roofing (I'm assuming metal roof). 2 in 12 slope you will need a really good overlap and seal. Any reason not to use conventional peaked trusses and roof with continuous sheets of metal?

That is my thought exactly. By going with a conventional v peaked roof, you will gain more headroom throughout the building and you may be able to decrease the side height a bit especially on the front side and get a standard 4/12 roof slope.

Do you get snow there? I wouldn't want that pitch with snow and ice. I did 2:12 for a shed I just built but we have very little snow and it's just a shed.

My structural design is 60 PSF snow load + 12 PSF dead load, more than adequate, My roof membrane is a monolithic sheet of rubber. Mfg requires a min of 1/4 inch per ft slope. Well within tolerance,

Codes all based on geographical zones. We ususally get wind with snow, Rarely accumulate more than 6 " on any roof. Grade accumulation very different.

There is a thread in Deere operating forum posted by member w/ many 4052r issues. You may wish to have a look.
