Well, I finally ordered a grapple...for the second time:confused:. I don't know what I was fretting so about because I ended up ordering the exact same grapple I ordered the first time I went through this. I got the WRLong RBGD-60...again. At 627lbs it's not so bad for a HD grapple.

I'll be paying more for it this time than I would have had I stuck with the other one (since he was gonna knock some off of the price), but I totally lost confidence in those people. They probably wouldn't have modified it correctly or all of the welds would have broke under the first load...or something. So far, everything that could go wrong with them did.

So I just called a local guy here that I bgt my woods bb and mower from, let him get the commission:)
And let the other folks put this grapple in their yard with the other one that they tried to pawn off on me

Is it normal for tractor dealers to do everything on a handshake? I wish I lived in a world that we could rely on a handshake, but 18 years in real estate has taught me that if it isn't in writing, it doesn't exist.

That being said, I just bought my new tractor on a handshake. It was a one week sale and since I wanted a few other things done (4-in-1 and roof) I wouldn't be able to pick it up for a few weeks after the sale. They said no prob, we'll honor the price. The only thing I had was my own scribble to figure out what I was going to pay. I didn't sign anything until it was already in the driveway. Somehow the price actually decreased??? I didn't question it.

A couple days ago I went to pick up a 65" Frontier box blade that originally disappeared from my tractor while we were waiting for the 4-in-1 parts (another salesman stole it for another customer thinking mine was going to take longer than it did). That way cheaper than I was originally quoted plus they threw in a real nice coat and the hand-full of other items I was planning on buying right then. They said, "sorry you had to come back for this." They also said they'd put my name on the first Frontier 5' brush hog that I was eyeing if I still want one and they'll knock some $ off that too.

I guess I won't worry about handshakes with them anymore. It might be why the dealership is still in business after 80 years. It's just the way it used to be and still is there.

I bought a brand new CTD Dodge Ram 2500 on a handshake two years ago. Not only that, but my wife and I drove over to another dealer's place to pick it up, over 100 miles away, and brought it home overnight, before I signed anything. I even carried the dealer to dealer check over to the losing dealer.

I had no prior contact with either dealer before any of this. I just drove in and said I was looking for a truck, and we went from there.

It still amazes me whenever I think about it.

My credit union gave my Dodge dealer the money without me signing anything. That was an oops though. The auditor noticed there was a loan that was never signed about 8 months later (at least it was their own auditor). They all know me though. The funny thing was that I went in and signed and back dated the loan documents a couple of weeks after I paid the truck off. I did that before the state's auditor figured it out.

Sometimes we can still get away with the good old boy system. Up until she moved I did all my banking by going over to my neighbor who worked at my credit union. She's make my deposits or bring cash home for me. Can't do that at Bank of America!
