Today I installed a crome tow hook on the back of my backhoe bucket the hook did not interfear with the curl of the bucket and when I was digging the tow hook did not get all scared up. I used it to lift a small palm tree up over a small wall and into the new hole I dug for it with my backhoe.
All for a total of 6 bucks for the two tow hooks and the hardwhere. I think I will use the tow hooks more than I will use the hooks welded on the side of my bucket made for chain. David.

David,

I have a tow hook on the center top lip of my loader bucket and two grab hooks, one on each side infront of the curl cylinders.

My experience is that the grab hooks are really useful. If I am pulling from the center, I end up threading the chain through the slip hook in the center and hook the chain in the grab hook on one side or the other, depending which side I am on at the time.

I have not welded a hook on my backhoe bucket yet. I have both kinds available. My inclination would be to use a grab hook on the backhoe bucket...

So I am wondering if I am missing something as you seem to be quite happy with the tow [slip] hook on your bucket.

Is there a reason why you prefer the tow hook over a grab hook? Or was it just a matter of using what you had available?
