No problem on my tailgate (Chevy) as I remove it regularly. I would think the tailgate strong enough to take the weight but will probably pick up the PT without it just because it'll be easier to forklift the pallets into the bed without it.
I'm not exactly understanding your attached pipes, and since you sold the pickup you can't take a photo. Guess it'll work out. With time I'll figure out a secure system, but the initial pickup of the unit will be dealing with a few unknowns, less so with your help.
Are each of the attachments light enough to be lifted by two (over 50) men? Mini-hoe, stump grinder, light materials bucket, pallet forks, etc.? I'm planning on taking a friend and cutting whatever bands hold the attachments to the pallet, then manually unloading the attachments before returning for the next pallet. There's a forklift available to put the pallets into the pickup.
