I was thinking the same from when I had cars shipped... it really was not bad in the $800-$1000 range.

The tractor is cheaper than the freight so I let it go...

By the same token... should I find one nearby... I might be inclined to pay a little more now that I am up to speed on transportation cost.

In 2013 I had a Landini Mistral shipped from Washington to Connecticut on MKM transportation for ~$2K. As others have said make a few phone calls to automotive & tractor dealers who deal online to get some current recommendations.

I just used a link from here on TBN to get a quote to ship a new rotary cutter from Ozark, Al to Cheney, WA. $1700 If this is the best available - then I'll be buying from the local Kubota dealer. Heck - brand new Brown rotary cutter is only $2600.

I doubt that you would ever find a commercial shipper who would make one off implement shipping cost effective.

Prices have sure risen since I was shipping cars...

I had great shippers and paid $800 from Florida to the SF Bay Area... open trailer and double that for enclosed white glove service with Passport Transport... one of the best.

I realize that was 10 years ago but it looks like prices have quadrupled... so, it make buying local much more attractive if it is on the must have list.

Heck... going back 15 years it was only $650 to have my car shipped from Munich Germany to San Francisco California including Customs... this was December 2002.

Hey everyone, I've been researching auto transport options lately and came across some interesting insights on cost-effectiveness and reliability. Has anyone here had experience with cross-country transport services? I'm particularly curious about the typical costs involved.
Not recently… best and and most expensive for me was enclosed secured trailer with FedEx Passport Transport…

Totally professional and in the same trailer a 250k Ford GT…

Lower cost was open transport via DAS

$800 Florida to Oakland California open carrier but that was a number of years back.

Had my 'Hoe shipped from Spokane WA to me far east of there several hundred miles. Cost me $1,450 for a couple of Russian guys driving a big pickup and pulling a long trailer. They had three other cars on board when the dropped mine off.

Apparently they ALL use a message board called 'Central Dispatch'. When a load gets posted, the drivers can bid on when they can move it and for how much. In my case it took a few days of back and forth to get a deal set. I used a broker (search 'auto transports' or similar) after being contacted by several. Prices were sort of all over the place, but I came to realize many of they were full of hogwash and would add charges later.

I wasn't happy with the process, but I got the 'Hoe at a price better than if I had driven or flown up there and driven it back. And I didn't have to spend several days on the road.

Yeah, it still runs Oosik. Got a few headaches, but hey, it's almost 30 years old.

What if you crate the thing up and get quotes for that?
