Far as I'm concerned, I will always use OEM Kubota filters on my tractors. One, they don't cost much more, maybe a paltry buck or two per filter and two, Kubota engineers know better than I do what works and what don't. Besides I order up what I want and they get delivered to the farm so I don't even have to visit the dealer to get them and no delivery charges ever. The head parts guy has a farm around the corner from me so he drops my stuff on his way home. Filters, lubricants and grease are things I don't cheap out on, ever.

Only thing I don't like about the OEM Bobcat filter is, while it has a water drain valve on the bottom, the entire cannister is solid black whereas the Racor has a clear bottom bowl (it's removeable and attaches to a new filter element), so you can visually see how much has collected in the bottom to be drained. I want to see what it in there and I look every time I get out of the tractors, only takes a glance to see.

How many fuel system failures are cropping up anyway?
That's very person, climate, fuel quality and vehicle specific. If I had a piece of equipment that would cost thousands to repair if I got water in the fuel I would be def getting a fuel polishing setup. However I dont

I burn home heating oil out of a 275gal tank out in the weather. The fuel is alreaty 2.5yrs old and I expect it to last another 5yrs. I just have a goldenrod fuel filter on my 1980s vintage hand pump. I do run a cetaine booster and an algee additive. I have drained the low side drain on this tank and didnt even get a drop of water...yet.

I don't really need them either, just added insurance against the what if and they were pretty inexpensive anyway. Always running 'fresh' delivered bulk diesel anyway.

If you live in a climate where ambient temps swing a lot and you don't keep your fuel tank topped off, you will get 'sweat' condensation inside the fuel tank and some amount of water, no way around that. Just like watching a cold beer sweat while sitting in a room. Same thing happens inside your fuel tank and your bulk tank as well. Neither of my tractors are T4 units so a tiny bit of water in the fuel won't render them DOA but with a T4 final engine it can and will.

Aftermarket parts are one thing but when they start putting fake labels on them, that just ain't right.
