Not sure about your setup, but on a 2013 Journey where rodents like to chew on the wires (to the tune of 5 fixes, 3 of which were total harness replacements 
), the cruise control stopped working and, thinking it was rodents again, went searching. Couldn't find anything but after pulling, looking at, and then re-seating the fuse box, it started working again. Apparently a dirty/loose connection also..

undoing the plug broke up a film of corrosion. My Silverado developed a bad brake light switch. Cruise stopped working then it wouldn't come out of park. First replacement off flea-bay was a chinese wonder, I could get out of park but lost my brake lights. Went to GM for an OEM switch and everything still works
