Crushed asphalt pad?

I recently built a boat trailer parking space using crushed limestone as a base topped with "crushed" asphalt. The crushed asphalt was "millings" crushed to less than 3/8" in size. I rolled it with a 5000 lb roller and really liked the results.

I'm looking for an economical option to concrete for a 24 X 24 size basketball court for the kids. Has anyone tried crushed asphalt (Asphalt millings)? I can get the material that I need for around $250. Having someone do the concrete will run me around $2K.

My experience with crushed asphalt is that it is best as a top coating that doesn't last very long. It has not strength, so it lasts as long as what you put it over. If just placed on dirt, it will fail pretty quickly. If placed over compacted road base gravel, it does ok for a while, but then starts to fail. In my opinion, it is pretty much junk and not worth the time or money to mess with.

Crushed asphalt laid down at the proper depth and properly compacted should give results equivalent to or better than the same amount of crushed gravel.

True... But bouncing a bball on it after a few years probably won't be pleasant.
