Hi Dirtmonkey,
Well I have about 4 hours using it so far. Snow/rain today so no seat time today. It sure is an efficient machine for keeping up with things here.
The brushoging was effortless. Hit some saplings and it never bogged down, the 72" cut was making short work of things. I have some small 2"- 2.5" x4 feet Doug Fir that had needlecast for 3 years in a row that need to go, but still waiting for the brush guard before I dive into that field.
I got the grapple yesterday. Had to re-route the grapple hydraulic lines a bit as they were set for a bobcat skid loader. It may be on the upper edge for size though, it's 72" and weighs 1000 lbs. So the brush hog at 612 lbs is a bit shy of the ballast I need. But operating it cautiously, I cleaned up a fallen white pine 2+ foot diameter at the base by about 60' long, whacked it twice with the chain saw and hauled it to the brush pile. Re-stacked some old stumps. I am looking for a ballast box. Thinking I can buy a king cutter carry all ($139) and add a 50 gallon barrel of sand?
I need to re-stack a couple of partially burned piles of Christmas trees mixed in with dirt from getting a field dozed out this summer. Hoping the root rake will drop out a lot of the dirt that's pushed into the piles.
It's a bit heavy to run through the yard right now as the ground isn't frozen and is a bit wet.
All in all pretty satisfied, the ease of swapping bucket for grapple is amazing, even the quick attach hydraulic fittings are a breeze, after I learned to let off the pressure - couldn't budge them loaded (lucky for me).
More as it happens, Bob
