Well, they just dropped off a ct450 in the barn. Can't wait to test it out.

Welcome to TBN!

I have the orange version of that tractor so I suspect you will love it! Post lots of pics!

I have a Buell and 3 Harley's also, with your handle I assume you ride, so tell us about itthat too!

So consider this a "Welcome Aboard" sir!

Merry Christmas,
Be well,
David

Thanks for the welcome Dave!

I have 2 or 3 Harley's as well. A 100th Dyna, an 11 Ultra Limited and I get to ride my wife's Deluxe! Sometimes I only ride hers to the gas station and back though.

I tested the 450 out by pulling back some mud from the horse pasture gate, brush hogged a bit in a field where Mother Nature has been at it for 4-5 years and loosening up a 20-30 yard dirt pile, that I need to move before it freezes.

Lots more power and faster action on the hydraulics than I'm used to and the cutter is really a beast compared to what I was running. I'll take on a few acres where we had some Christmas trees pushed out 2 years ago. Should get a 72" root grapple tomorrow then I can re-stack the trees that we took out, too much dirt in the piles to burn well.

So given your tag line...who did you root for at in the Army -Navy Game?

Merry Christmas to you too, Bob

Bob,

I spent more time, and it was active duty time, in the Navy so I'd probably go that way, but I loved what I was doing in the Army and if I was not old and fat I might have tried to stay.

I have a 95 Buell S2, a 2000 FXST, and a 2004 RoadGlide, the 2004 1200 sporty is the wife's ride, and she only let's me warm it up or get gas in it too, just like you! The firs two pics are our bikes.

I have been VERY impressed with this tractor. Unfortunately I rarely get any action shots, because I'm too busy driving it. I have hauled some HUGE downed trees with my Grapple, and I've only managed to get the rear wheels off the ground twice so far. Both of the tractor pics were taken by other TBN guys who were over working with me. I will say grabbing two of those downed pines was ONE time I got the rears up. The other was trying to knock dirt off of a pine stump/rootball.

The pic in the fire was my first bonfire, and I was the most scared as to drove into the fire and rolled it.

Sounds like you had a good day of seat time (look for the seat time thread if you ae interested).

Be well!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
David

Hi Dirtmonkey,

Well I have about 4 hours using it so far. Snow/rain today so no seat time today. It sure is an efficient machine for keeping up with things here.

The brushoging was effortless. Hit some saplings and it never bogged down, the 72" cut was making short work of things. I have some small 2"- 2.5" x4 feet Doug Fir that had needlecast for 3 years in a row that need to go, but still waiting for the brush guard before I dive into that field.

I got the grapple yesterday. Had to re-route the grapple hydraulic lines a bit as they were set for a bobcat skid loader. It may be on the upper edge for size though, it's 72" and weighs 1000 lbs. So the brush hog at 612 lbs is a bit shy of the ballast I need. But operating it cautiously, I cleaned up a fallen white pine 2+ foot diameter at the base by about 60' long, whacked it twice with the chain saw and hauled it to the brush pile. Re-stacked some old stumps. I am looking for a ballast box. Thinking I can buy a king cutter carry all ($139) and add a 50 gallon barrel of sand?

I need to re-stack a couple of partially burned piles of Christmas trees mixed in with dirt from getting a field dozed out this summer. Hoping the root rake will drop out a lot of the dirt that's pushed into the piles.

It's a bit heavy to run through the yard right now as the ground isn't frozen and is a bit wet.

All in all pretty satisfied, the ease of swapping bucket for grapple is amazing, even the quick attach hydraulic fittings are a breeze, after I learned to let off the pressure - couldn't budge them loaded (lucky for me).

More as it happens, Bob

What Grapple are you running? I'm very interested in a pic.

I've got basically the same tractor and I'm running a WR Long RGB 72". It is 665 lbs as I recall. I have carried some some 45' to 50' logs one at a time when I had to (low and slow).

The pic shows my grapple all the way open (next to a smoking 300hp mulcher!!!).

ENJOY!
David

Congrats!!! Makes you feel like a kid at x- mas !! Just a shame you couldn't play longer. Lol. I think we all learn that first time about hyd press release. I have three Gehl track loaders and there are days I want to strangle the guy that designed that pressure release set up ! I think the root grapple will be next in my line up, looks very handy. Enjoy and happy new year !!
