2523 here aka 2554.. awesome garden tractor !

I just rolled 400 hours yesterday...and at 399 replaced pto belt and original battery (6 years old ! ) the belt would have been fine but missed a pulley once and put a gash into it, so at 399 it gave :)

Gt2542 with a rear bagger attachment and a tow cart. I've had it about 5 years now and it's still proving to be a great machine.

07 Cub GT2554. Great Machine, Mow in the summer and Plow in the winter. Anyone have any comments on a Johnny Bucket Jr? Thinking about purchasing one and would like to hear Pro's and Con's.

I've had my 2554 since '06 and have almost 150 hours on the unit now. I just use it to mow and to move things around with a yard cart.

I went though all the hood replacement / heatshield changes early on but these issues were fixed on warranty and I've had no problems since.

I haven't checked current models and prices closely, but I still the think the whole 2500 Series is the way to go for the $$ spent.

Main prpblem with a Johnny Bucket is they only lift about 12''.

I bought my 2518 ( the first model of the 2500 series) on August 5, 2003. I have 470 hours on it. Over all it's been very reliable. I had to replace the PTO at 300 hours. All I can say about that is OUCH! It will hit your wallet hard! I have replaced the mower drive belt I think 5 times. The dealer replaced it twice under warranty. One time it just snapped and 2 times because of my own stupidity. (You gotta get that twist right!!!). The battery lasted 6 years. Just replaced it in March.
About 3 years ago I put on a set of Ag tires. It had good traction with the turf tires. It has GREAT traction with the Ags.
My wife got me the triple bagger as a christmas present in 2003. I use it mainly for leaves in the fall.
I have had the burnt spots on the grass. I learned it's no big deal the grass grows back.
It cuts the expensive blue fescue grass around my house with ease and the grass/weed mix that makes up the rest of my yard it does a great job as well.

I paid $3899 plus $272.93 tax for a grand total of $4171.93. I don't think a new 2544 costs that much!
Oh, The day it was delivered. I called off work. I wanted to see it come up the drive on the back of the dealers truck. I was so proud. I got what I wanted! ( to the dismay of my wife!)
In closing. I Love my Cub. Yes, I have had to spend some money on her. Thats just the way it is sometimes!

2544 since '06. Overall, it's been great.

Replaced light bulbs at 20 hours
Replaced battery at 50 hours
Replaced PTO belt at 60 hours

I keep all servicable joints and spindles packed with grease and I use synthetic oil every season.

A little slow on the reverse, but sometimes if I stomp on it, it will go go. I adjusted the throttle at the carb so I can get more RPM if needed. Now I ride with the throttle at 70-75%, then kick it to 100% for a few seconds at a time if I have to mow through God forbidden heavy grass and such.
