cub 3100
I have bought a cub gt3100. Right after delivery we noticed the belts that drive the pulley kept coming off. we would put them back on. after a mowing a few times like this we called the dealer who took it back and did something to it, no explanation of what. When we got it back it ran about 1/2 a mowing session and the rear of the two pulleys broke away from the drive shaft. we had it picked up again. It came back that time and after mowing we always find at least one of the belts off of it. Of course if they both come off it stops mowing. The mower has 15 hours on it and our dealer tells us cub says they will continue to repair it as long as it is under warranty. they did offer to give a used value for the tractor and sell me a gravely 272 for about 2500 more.

Now I am not sure, but this does not sound quite right to me.
Any one with similar experiences??????????

Any feedback is appreciated.

Last year I had a new 3204. Within 5 hours of using the mower deck the bearing in the PTO pulleys you describe went out. Cub replaced the ENTIRE PTO pulley. Had to wait for the part because the dealer stocks very little. Never had another problem. As I recall, there is no adjustment for the pulley, I could be wrong.
Are you sure the pulleys are not warped or bent?
Are the belts lined up correctly?
Are the belts tight?

If you had hit anything with the deck, this will definately cause trouble with the PTO pulley.

I really like Cub and think that they are a good solid machine. Sorry you are having trouble, I know it detracts from the feeling of owning a quality tractor.

There are some great dealers and then......

I would talk with the dealer and explain the situation and your frustration. Ask him to call the territory rep and see what he suggest because you shouldn't buy a new machine and have the problems you are having.

Woody, there is NOTHING quite right about this. You bought a top of the line GT. It's brand-new & it should not be spitting PTO belts. You need to stay calm, cool and collected with your dealer & like gamble says, INSIST that they contact the region CC rep on this. You need confirmation that this has been done. Go thru the CC website and call CC directly as well. You paid extra money for a machine with fewer belts in the first place!!

G/luck

Cub phone # 800-800-9448. They are pleasant, patient, and helpful.

Gamble is right, your dealer is the first line of communications. Whish I could always be calm, cool, and collected.

Good advice, but you should not have to go through this hassle after buying such an expensive garden tractor. A shaft driven tranny and PTO and still belt problems? Outrageous!!!
Trade up to something better, It will cost you but you will be happier in the long run with equipment that actually functions.

I saw your post on your 2500 series, thats too bad hope you figure out what the problem is - I suggest taking the time to understand how your machine works, to help diagnose the problem. Otherwise unload and take your chances with another brand - The devil that you know is better than the one you dont know...

As for having a campaign of bad mouthing Cub in general that gets old quick and you probably wont get the support you desire in that campaign from this board.

Tell them to fix the **** thing and stop trying to upsell to another model....There are two bolts side by side to the PTO pulley that serve as belt guides. You remove them when replacing the belts - they need to be almost touching the belts at rest (1/8" not sure but it might be in manual) - when they are at the correct distance, those belts wont come off again....

"When we got it back it ran about 1/2 a mowing session and the rear of the two pulleys broke away from the drive shaft"

Can you clarify this ? I'm not following you with this its a little confusing

sorry for the delay in getting back to everyone. Work........

I was asked to clarify, So...........;
First repair: belts would not stay on for more than a few minutes at a time. Ended up mowing with one belt most of the time since the rear one seems to have wanted to stay on unless the front caught it on the way off. Finally sent it in for repair after a grueling 7 or 8 hours.

After first repair; I meant the rear pulley literally broke in the center after we had the mower back for a short period. The front pulley was still connected and would only throw the belt. After calling about the noise and being told it was normal I finally spoke to someone I was able to explain to that the noise was due to the pulley being broke. They said they had never seen that................ so back to the shop at around 12 hours

After that the belts come off randomly but would not stay on for more than a pass or so. You would not notice them both off until it quit mowing completely. finally had it and sent it back at 15 hours of run time.

CC rep told dealer they will not take a machine back but will continue to repair it. If there is a real CC Rep from CC please feel free to contact me 405-273-5500 Woody.

In reference to previous few posts.......
First of all......, I told them to fix it.
Second I am not trying to upsell to anything!!! I am trying to find out from real cub users about their experiences AND what their dealers are telliing them about the new "shaft drive" garden tractors.
Third, to indicate the members of this board dont "know" the tractors they buy is to say the least a little presumpteous on your part. I cannot tell if you are a CC dealer or a factory SHILL who is here to sing the praises of CC without dealing with the fact that users of these machines have issues with them. I was truly hoping finally to find a board that a man can go to and find out real information without a marketing department operating behind the scenes.
FOURTH I should not have to work on a brand new 5000 machine to mow my grass.
FIFTH The Cadet Cub Company should in fact be embarrased if this is normal. If it is not normal then they should take care of it. The dealers solution, not mine, is to sell me a gravely instead of the lemon they sold me (his words not mine) of course they cannot give me full price for the CC because it is used.
Once again I will off an ACTUAL CC FACTORY REP to call
My number is in a previouse post or email me at woody@woodrell.com
