I just purchased a 68 cub cadet 125. The owner said the battery was dead so he jumped it directly to the starter and it fired right up. I purchased a new battery and turned the key with no result. I believe the problem is either the starter solenoid or voltage regulator. How can i properly diagnose these to determine where the issue is? I am also looking for a good source of Cub Cadet parts and manuals. Any ideas you may have is appreciated.

I think there is a black voltage regulator at the front near the grill, and vibrations take their toll on the wires going to it. The prior poster is correct about what to check, but I remember having to fix these wires on a 107 a couple of times. Just a thought. Good luck.

If you hear a clicking sound, then it is your starter solenoid.
A tractor will still run on a bad voltage regulator, but as the voltage is not being accurately regulated, it will burn your wiring harness.
