I'm trying to help a friend get his Cub running decent. Hard to start, dies right away or only runs for up to a minute. Compression OK and spark looks good, leading me to look at fuel. Fuel pump seems to be putting out, but it sounds like it may not be getting enough gas. Ran the carb through the ultrasonic bath twice, but don't know what else to try since there seems to not be a carb kit or replacement carb available for this engine (KOH M18S-24506). One thing I did wonder about is that the top of the inlet seat sticks up about 1/16th inch higher than the surronding casting material. Wonder if the seat should be pressed down flush with the casting?? I'm also leery of doing much with that carb in case it actually is irreplaceable. Appreciate any help. - Phil

Welcome to the forum. :welcome:

I'm going to move your thread over to the Cub Cadet section to see if someone over there might know.

Phil - start the engine and when it starts to die, shoot several shots of rattlecan carb cleaner directly into carb throat. I f engine rcovers and runs til it has burned up rattlecan fumes, you have a fuel delivery problem. Verify the machine is equipped with correct OEM fuel filter and istalld in correct direction - Kohlers are quite finicky about such and do not tolerate aftermaket filters very well.
As to fully overhauling/cleaning carb, the 1811 is an IH built machine. But, if you get the FULL machine model number/serial number off the ID plate on the frame and go to website PDF Manual Web Archive you may be able to d/l a parts list and get info on that carb that will let you find a rebuild kit. A successful cleaning usually involves a complete disassembly, oveernite soaking followed by orifice probing and blowing out with compress air - then rebuilt with fresh needles/seats and gaskets.... good luck.

To the OP the carb repair kit is part number 25 757 11-s and the float repair kit is part number 25 757 09-s if you are having float problems. The carb is NLA at this time.
