Has anyone had a problem with grass blowing out from the gap between the middle spindle hub and the deck? This is causing grass and dust to blow up on the left side of the tractor. I've not had any help from the Cub Cadet Support group to solve the problem.

I had a 3235 with 54" deck.

Grass would accumulate on top of deck also. Never cut in real dusty conditions, so that was not a problem.

I used the oem blades, then switched to high lift. Went back to the oems. I think that's why they come with low lift.

Their commercial decks do not have the opening around the spindles. Could be for assembly reasons, or they use larger spindles in some units.

Not much you can do, unless you want to try plugging the holes.

I thought about doing that and using that foam stuff that hardens and trim as needed. I just wonder if that will hold? Thanks for your feedback.

Glad to know that someone else is not having the problem but I'm now trying to figure out why mine is doing this.

I have a 3204 with the 44" deck (basically the same setup)

The 44" being a high vaccum mulch deck, in dusty conditions it kicks up dust no doubt. Lots of cleaning after that....hopfully you are still using the stock blades (they seem to be the best solution)...cutting grass there is always a small amount of clippings on the top deck. Its never alot or does it interfere with the deck belts...I would assume you are not using the mulch plug over the discharge chute? Clean you deck would be the only thing I can suggest (remove it from machine) look at the sindles to make sure they are not bent or the metal around them....there is a small gap but thats normal...
After that how old is the machine? have the dealer get you another deck, maybe a 48"

I mowed again today lowering the caster wheels one more position and the results are the same. I expect dust & grass to get on top of the deck which is normal. What I'm experiencing is grass is coming from the holes around the spindles and throwing grass up to the left and to the front of tractor. When I'm through the tractor is completely brown from all of the grass and dust thrown up towards the engine area. If sitting in the seat you see grass throwing out towards the left front caster wheel. The machine was purchased around the first of August and I guess I will need to take it back to where I purchased it and see if they can see what is happening. I am running with a bagger but it doesn't seem to matter if I have the shoot on or off. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Thanks,

Mike,

I also have the CC 3235 with the 44 inch deck and I use it with the Triple Bagger. I use 2 Stock Lift Blades and 1 Hi-Lift Blade on the outside. I have cut all summer long with it on two different lawns and different weather conditions and I have had no problems. I was concerned about clogging with the Bagger. because other people posted that they had that problem, but so far so good. I will be changing over to 3 Hi-Lift Blades soon to pick up leaves. I bag them and them run them through my shredder.

I had a 3204 with a 44" deck last year and had all kinds of problems with it. No bagger but the thing clogged to the point of burning belts. Cub finally relented and replaced it with a 48" deck for no charge. Your problem could be related to clogging. I found no resolve to mine and it seems like it didn't affect all 44" decks.

I wonder if I were to put Hi-lift blades on that it would stop the debris from coming up through the gaps between the spindles and the deck? So you aren't seeing this on your machine? I'm not having any problems with clogging with the triple bagger on or off. I've taken it back to store and they didn't suggest changing the blades and I assume they didn't change the blades on the deck to hi-lift blades. They did some minor adjustments but they didn't provide much hope that it would fix the problem with the adjustments that they made. They only lowered the front of the deck some which is what Cub had suggested to them to do.

How new is your machine? Of course the correct leveling adjustment is critical. But if what your dealer did didnt fix the problem, I would start working on them to get the 48" deck...
It should be a warranty issue -if the machine is still covered, and your not happy...
When the 44" is setup correctly, its a awesome mulcher and mower. It mulches leaves & sticks so well that I feel a bagger or external powered unit is not needed IMHO. It no doubt saved me the investment on those attachments!!

Get the 48" and be done with it. Thats what I tell those who have a problem with the 44". The weired thing is not everyone has these problems. I picked up a used 48" anticipating a problem but never needed it (its not for sale either)

Since I have the bagger on, they installed the 1 hi-lift blade so I change the other 2 to hi-lift and did not help the problem that I'm having. I wonder if the 44 deck is to small for the mower? Cub technical said something about checking the blade tip speed, I wonder how they do that?
