Cub Cadet 5234D

I can't tell from your original post if you got a mower with the tractor. If you didn't you should track down one of the 60" MMM"s. I thought the mower decks on these tractors was one of the better things the tractor had going for it. Now these tractors have been discontinued, there may be some around going pretty cheap.

I had a 5252, and like Alan, had relatively few problems (although I just had mine for a fairly short period of time).

Certainly keep us posted with how things work out for you this winter. For the price you paid I would be very tempted to get back into the 5000 series game.

Good luck.

I found a snow cab for $99 on ebay and should have bought it regardless of whether or not the guy would ship it. He wouldnt but I have friends in Mansfield that might have been able to drive an hour away for me to get it. Big mistake.

I may after a few uses want to build my own conversion of one. After I left this weekend they got the first 4 inches

I would like to get a mower deck for underneath or a 3 point deck. What part #'s am I looking for ? My neighbor hasn't mowed the two fields adjacent to my land in three years and the golden rod is killing us now in the summers. Its also getting lots of thorn bushes and look unsightly.

I would be happy of course to maintain it now that I have the tractor !:D

My dad had the 5234D and had nothing but problems with it. A major part broke (can't remember the name) where it hit the frame and damaged it. The cub dealer called his rep and they came out and looked at it. Upon further investigation, Cub Cadet decided to give my dad a brand new tractor (5264D) and he has been very pleased with it...

Redracer,

I was very pleased with my 5254 and am sure you will get many hours of quality service out of your tractor.

I had both the 54" mmm and the 60" rfm. The rfm was really to heavy for use on hills, would have a tendency want to swing the tractor around. Also, you would have to use 8 weights on the front of the tractor to be able to lift the mower off the ground. The 54" mower is ok but I have read here of others who really liked the 60" mmm.

Hope this helps.

Alan
