Cub Cadet HDS 2165
Hey guys, I have a 1995 Cub HDS 2165 with 485 hours on the clock. Lately after running for a while, when I shut it down, it will smoke a bit...:( Also after shutting down, on restarting 20 minutes later it will at time stall like it is fuel staved... Take a lot of cranking and messing with the choke to get her going again.:confused2: Once she is running all is good...

What do y'all thing is going on ?

This tractor has a 16hp Kohler vtwin...

Yes I know the gas cap vent trick..I tried starting it with the cap off, that did not help.. Guess I will look into the fuel solonoid.. Any idea what that does

It turns off the gas so as to (supposedly) prevent that last gasp pop (backfire) when you shut off the engine. It seems to really do pretty much nothing. I had a similar problem with a lt1050, and the CC mechanic said to just open it up and snip off the end of the needle and reinstall it. That's what I did and it solved the problem. I still got no pop when shutting it off. If you do much trailering of the machine, it's good to install an in-line shut off valve, as the jiggling could cause flooding type issues.

OK, I will give this a try.. I will also install a shut off valve. My tractor backfires every time unless I let her idle for a bit first. Any ideas why sge is puffin a bit of smoke on shut down ?
