I don't have any problems going up any of my hills straight on. I don't know how my hills compare to yours. Is your grass wet when this happens?

The riding lawn tractors with the smallest rear wheels don't offer much traction because they have to small of a diameter which causes them to get hung up on the smallest dip or bump because they aren't big enough around to roll over them .

I'd say more damp then wet, I tried mowing this morning before the dew completely burned off. Slid all over the place trying to go up a small slope of grass that runs next to my driveway at about the same angle. It was embarrasing lol. I was looking around hoping my neighbor didn't see me. The guys at the place I bought it told me hills sure no problem. This thing has so much power LOL. Now they tell me, yeah it will go if your on the pavement coasting up your drive way. Heh seems like they were just trying to sell it.

I mow with Cub LT1050 and have a lot of inclined areas. My wife asked if there was anything special she need to know if she decided to help out with some of the mowing (a little over 5 acres) I told her the most important thing is to wear thong underwear cause whatever you have on is going to be a thong from sliding from fender to fender to keep both rear wheels in contact with the ground. If you try to just sit on the seat you are going to spin out. I am 5'11" and weigh about 235 so your traction problems do not surprise me. It is something I have learned to live with, and overall I am very pleased with the mower. I have considered checking into a lug type tire for it but looking at the clearence between the tires and the rear edge of the deck I don't think I have enough clearance to do that. I have had the mower for four years next month and have 469 hours on so it don't sit still a lot.

Do you have the deck mashed all the way to the ground when your mowing? I'm wondering if this is bottoming you out and causing more wheel-spin.

In my experience, most LT/GT/ZTRs will do some wheel spinning on steep inclines w/ damp grass, but this isn't a tiny, lightweight machine. With you plopped in the seat, we're talking 800-900lbs?? Regardless, very few, if any (in stock setup) are going to climb a 45deg incline without spinning, or worse. That type of incline is downright dangerous to be mowing with a rider.

If you want to keep at it, get some Carlisle super-lugs or some other much more aggressively treaded tires.

Just my opinion, but given the degree of wheel-spin you describe, I don't think wheel-weights will do much for you. I would shop for new rear rubber if anything. Maybe something like these Super Lugs or Power Tracs (by Carlisle):

I've got some Duro bar lug tires on my Z Force 50 and it will climb any hill or ditch.

I got them here AG BAR LUG R1 :: DURO :: BAR LUG & TRENCHER TIRES ::...

I was impressed with the traction right from word GO! After finally wearing out 2 JD's from the early 80's, I bought the 1046KW. I had to keep wheel chains on the JD's, most of my place is rolling. I was really pleased right off with the traction on the 1046 because the chains won't fit- the JD's had bigger rear tires. Am really happy with the tractor so far, tho only have about 17 hours on it.
Only negative I've found is the front axle grease zerks- press in cheapies. Went to replace one I was having an issue with, with a quality threaded zerk and it wasn't gonna happen- base hole is way too small. Operated on the stock zerk and got it working. (spring ball had been painted)
