<font color="blue"> </font> I underestand the reasoning, but I think those kiddie safety devices eventually cause more annoying problems for owners than any other single thing.

<font color="black"> </font> I looked back at this topic and I can see why the manufacturers hastily found a solution for the "no mowing in reverse" feature. The extra wear and tear, plus the agravation caused by continually having to reset the PTO...would make any sow eat her pigs!
Before I bought my 3100 I was planning on getting an older used Cub...I would have had that same problem with mowing in reverse. The three position ignition switch with the push button for mowing in reverse is a minor inconvenience. Another minor inconvenience is that you must set the parking brake prior to lifting your rear end off the seat, otherwise the engine will shut down. Just have to adjust your habits slightly. Of course all this works fine when it is new, and hopefully it will continue to work correctly when I have 500 hours on the machine.
