Snow cub cadet w/341 snow blower..twisting belt..

I obtained a Cub Cadet 2166 with a 42 inch snowthrower, model 341. It was purchased from a Estate sale of a neighbor who died suddenly of a heart attack..

This machine has 66 hrs on it, and has eaten PTO belts with the snow blower attached, since it was new. What happens is the belt twists on the PTO pulley so it rides on its side, and blows the belt after a few storms.

I got 3 belts with the purchase /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif but have now gone through them all, Belts have been installed correctly and are the correct belt, (according to the manual and picture showing the belt twists through the idlers and onto the PTO pulley.. Everything looks like it lines up ok. Just the belt off the idler feeding the PTO, does not untwist under load causing the belt to lay on its side? any ideas??

This is a diagram for a 2166 and 42" blower -you will notice it shows 2 belts but you only actually have 1. The choice is dependent on what type of motor you have, and you choose the correct belt based on that engine.

I have the IPB and the manuals, the correct belt is being used, the one for a single cylinder engine. I put a new belt on this morning, following the belt installation directions step by step.. Fired it up, engaged the blower and the belt fliped over on the PTO pulley, Stayed orientated correctly on the idler pulley? just rolled on the PTO. I would think alignment, but there is no Obvious min-alignment.

From reading several other posts, it appears there is a problem with Cubs throwing snowblower belts. Have you talked to a dealer, maybe they have a quick fix for it?
