All;
I for one didn't like buying at a box store. I went to the nearest Cub dealer here in CA and they didn't even have a GT2544 last year and were very hesitant to even get me one. Keep in mind this is 90 miles away and the guys didnt' even speak english. Well I purchased at Lowes and while they were accomidating and discounted accessories, I worried about service. Well the local MTD reps here service for all the big box stores so one or two reps service all the Lowes,Home Depots ect. and they actually were out for the set-up when I came to check on mine. Don't know how competent they are but thats how they seem to do it here.

A worthy note:

Don't be blinded by an assummed perfect setup by the dealer. My GT2544's steering wheel was well of center when I got it. I popped off the center cap and removed the nut that attaches the steering wheel to the steering shaft. It was overtightened so badly that the plastic beneath it was crushed into the grooves/splines on the shaft. I had to use a rubber mallet and whack the bottom of the steering wheel to get it off. I repositioned the wheel (straight) and had to use a huge flat washer over the hole at the steering wheel center.

The deck was so far off from being level; so bad in fact that I could not even put the adjustment lever into the highest position. This required me to perform a complete releveling of the deck before first use. The dealer should have done it before delivery.

Nuetral/center position for the foot controls was off too. The tractor rolled forward at idle with the brake off. It required me to perform the adjustment in the manual.

YES-the dealer is the best, most qualified to setup your new tractor purchase. Just don't assume that it was done right! Go through the manual and check their work.

Just found this site while searching for PK on the new Cub Cadets. Look forward to more reading, I think it will be very informative for me.

I'll second the "don't rely on the dealer" or anyone for that matter. The margins that MTD allows on these products are pathetic! If we had a skilled mechanic setting up each machine there would be no profit left over in the end. MTD does a pretty good job of delivering a product that needs very little done to it. Most of the time, these things are just knocked out of their crates and shipped.

( You didn't hear it from me... So keep it on the DL.

But TORO is now being manufactured along side the Cub's and Troy's and everything else.

I am not for sure if Toro is owned by MTD now..but the same people who build the Cub's build the new Toro's.

Will have to wait and see.

I will have to get back to you on the Seats and Armrests. I believe there will be more options.

Cub also will be opening a Customer Care line so the Tech line will be freed up for the Dealers.

Cubtech...I thought their was some seperation of the Cub brand from all the other MTD brands. Is it only the less expensive 1000 and 1500 series that are built alongside the the Toro's?

Yesterday, Home Depot had several new JD's still wrapped up in their crates freshly delivered in front of the store. I guess they are offering everything, Cub's, JD's, and they had a couple of red ones. I don't recall if they were Troybilt's or Toro's....

Hey Cubtech!
I've got a 1046 with only 15 hours on it, and it's started making this "rolling effect" with the rpm level. Like it's revving and dropping. Almost like it's starving out.
When I pull the choke, it seems to clear up for a minute then starts again, which seems to imply insufficient fuel.
I've checked and blown out the fuel filter.
Any suggestions?

thanks,

anthony
