Hey folks. I here the least on this forum about Cub Cadet. I don't have any brand loyalty or anything at the moment but from first glance they look like a decent tractor. Seems as though MTD plays a lot of "switcharoo" with suppliers though - is that what is leaving a sour taste in peoples mouths? Any thoughts on the 6000 and 7000 series CUT's? This is the closest dealer to my home and after talking with the dealer on a couple of different occasions it appears that he is very friendly and knowledgeable. I'm a research hound though, I'll end up spending weeks, maybe even months researching and suffering from "upgraditis" before I make a decision/purchase. I just thought I'd pose the question to you folks. There seems to be a wealth of good knowledge on this site.

Thanks.

Yarster,

Welcome to TBN. You will find all the information you need right here. It might help though if you post this in the Cub Cadet Forum. This way the people that have the Cub Cadet and only browse the Cub Cadet forum will see your question.

But from what I heard it is a good product. My neighbor has one and he likes it.

Maybe if you tell us exactly which models and options you are looking at/for we can help you out a little more.

Yardster, As Gamble77 mentioned when you get a chance fill out some more of your profile, how big a yard, etc. Then mention some things you want to do with the tractor, i.e. plow snow, haul logs, dig a foundation. As far a the Cub I am in S. Me. and have a 7234, (23HP 4WD, gear drive) and it is an excellent tractor. Tough, does just about everything I need it to do. The older 7000's (6-8 yrs back or so) were made by Mitsubishi and are probably as good as any on the market. Let us know how your tractor research is going. Who was the Cub dealer, Waterman's?

I guess I should have worded my post a bit different. I already have a good feel for the size tractor I would like through knowledge I already had and through what I've read on tractorbynet.com. Before coming here to read up on things I was pretty sure I was going to go the Cub route, as it is the tractor I am the most familiar with. I've done bush hogging, box blading and snow blowing with a 7000 series and it works excellent, but it is a 7 year old tractor and I was getting the vibe from this forum that much has changed since then. I'm just looking for some feedback on that aspect I guess.

With that said though, I have 3 acres, about 65% is wooded, the rest is lawn (or lawnish). I've been around heavy equipment all my life and I still enjoy getting as much seat time as I possibly can. I've been without it for a while now and I'm definetly having withdrawals. The smell of deisel...ahhh - that would sell millions of dollars worth if they made it into an aftershave scent. Anyway, that's a bit more data on me. Oh, and I'd be using the tractor for landscaping (box blading, etc), plowing snow and helping with other chores around the house - I won't be using it to mow. I already have a 12 page list of "tractor tasks".

Yardster, you're a seasoned driver if you've done all that stuff with a 7000 series tractor! Mine is a '96 or '97 I can't remember which, essentially the Mitsubishi drivetrain, and my 23 HP moved up to a 26 HP model. Some of the newer ones are Daihatsu (sp?) and I believe the 35 and 45 HP are Daedong that are actually Kioti models rebadged as Cubs. If you have been reading this long you probably also realize that Mahindra 15 series are in 20 - 30HP models are actually Mitsubishi only they are red instead of Cub yellow.
