I just bought a used Cub lt2180. I put the deck in position 1 and the pto jumped off the pulleys. I repeated that and then set on 3(still fairly low cut) and it stayed on. I watched the PTO belt when the PTO was engage and it was moving up and down about 2 inches and the tensioner pulley on the deck was moving a fair amount. The pulley seems pretty tight is on correctly. Is this normal?

The belt could be the wrong size or the spring on the tensioner pulley could be weak. I would check all the spindles and pulleys for bearing wear. Lets us know what it turns out to be, and good luck.

I used to be a mechanic that worked on those kinds of things, and it's much easier to get at the problem and check things out by removing the deck. Like the other post said it may have wrong parts, or parts could be damaged.
