Who makes a decent 3-point cultipacker? I'm looking for something to cover seeds for food plots. I have the disk to break up the topsoil and a spreader to sow the seeds.

Anyone have another idea for covering seeds in 1/4 to 1/2 acre areas????

Thanks!

A one-section drag harrow works good.

Ditto Beenthere. While I do own a sod roller .. I generally spread my seed and then use a flexible drag harrow pulled behind the tractor. Most of them are reversible.. tines down to bust up maneuer.. tines up for a less agressive smoothing.. which covers most seeds well.

We do sell the New Tufline 6 and 8 ft single roller cultipackers, however because of high prices, the used ones make more sense. Here is a picture of a used 6 ft cultipacker with a new seedbox on top that we sell for $1875 + shipping. We also have approx 20 used standard cultipackers ranging in price from $295 to $895--Ken Sweet

From my food plot experience, I've found that for small grains(winter rye or wheat, BFO) you can get away pretty good by just dragging something over the seedbed (chainlink fence panel, bedsprings, etc) after seeding and fertilizer. Preferably before a good rain.
But for smaller seeds like clover or brassicas, a cultipacker finish step will make for much better germination. All of the major food plot seed companies tell you to pack those smaller seeds into a firm seedbed. After much looking, I finally found a decent cultipacker at a farm auction. Ken Sweet's site has some nice looking equipment as well.

go to craigs list St. Louis, MO and type in Cultipacker. They have some pretty nice ones.
