Wanted some input on a good brand for a culti packer to use for some food plots.
Maybe an 84". I called a local company today about a Brillion soil pulverizer which
is essentially the same thing and they wanted $3,300 for a new one. That seems
incredibly high for an implement that is fairly simple.

As with all things, what you need depends upon what acreage you are preparing. I have a few food plots of a couple acres each and have a 5-6 foot double row hitch-mounted cultipacker I bought off CL a couple of years ago for $300. It works fine. Before that I bought a new plastic cultipacker that you fill with water, or sand. It worked fine as well and when empty I could transport it in the back of a pickup. Not as heavy duty as the iron one, of course, but it did the job.

I've had good luck running a "wanted" ad on CL and waiting for results. I've bought a tractor, log splitter, and cultivator that way all for the fair price I posted that I was willing to pay. Seems as though guys getting ready to sell will check the ads for pricing and stumble across my ad...makes it easier on them to just contact me rather than go through the hassle of placing an ad.

I have the same cultipacker from ETA. I find it suits my needs well. I had no luck finding anything on CL in my area.

Ken Sweet, Sweet Tractors, always has refurbished, towed Cultipackers for sale.

He has a double roller 84" that weighs 1,400 pounds.

Ken Sweet is a reliable vender.

I just added a couple more cultipackers to our inventory today. Below is a current list of what we have used and refurbished. Ken Sweet

We bought the EA 84" cultipacker about a month ago. We have used it only once but it is very stoutly made and seems to perform as advertised. Being novices at using a cultipacker, we did notice that if you use the cultipacker after disking first, which would seem to be the usual method, the cultipacker will work a lot better if you use it after the disked ground dries out.

Cultipackers are great pieces of equipment, and although very simple in design, they are stupidly expensive.

I bought a 10 ft unit from Ken Sweet two years ago. It was around $1800 delivered and I think was a fair price.

I have even pulled it with my 4 wheeler once.
