I'm not real sure what kind of cultivator you're talking about, but, yes, that tractor should handle it well enough for food plots. Do you have a disc? A disc and a cultivator similar to this

can be the basis for a good foodplot outfit. Just add a spreader, maybe some old planters, and a good drag.

Good luck with your plots. I hope you are getting more rain than we are in S. GA. My corn will soon be burned.

How much land do you need to do ? Just a relatively small garden ? Go with a roto-tiller from JD, it makes things really nice.

My 4010 will pull a 7 tine cultivator. It's an old soil ripper adapted to the 3ph from one designed for the JD M, an 18 hp tractor that is about 3,500 #.

The wetness of the soil and your tires (I've turfs) will determine how deep you can run it. The 4010 pulls it in soil ready to be worked down to the little tine depth. Bury below the tines, and it's wheel spin time.

Attached is pic.

I have a Kioti CK 20 hst and it will pull a 5 shank until they are about 3/4 the way in the ground which is to deep any way. I have the pring loaded type also referred to as a Tillis Tool around here. Dont know the HP on yours but if it is 20 HP engine or higher you should be ok. You will need 4WD if the tractor is small. Mune will just spin in 2WD

I have a regular ol' 1 row King Cutter cultivator which has six tines. I have Kabota B7500 HST and it pulls it with no problems, well, unless I let the tines dig really deep (operator error for not have the top link adjusted properly).
I use the cultivator to layoff rows in my garden (most years). TIP: Don't look backwards, drive straight ahead... when you turn your head, you'll turn your well and have a curvey row.

Chevyman; I don't know anything about a 2520 but there a few more things to consider. Seeing as how you are in Birmingham, what type of soil is it? Is it rocky, clay.clear cut or what? You might want to take a couple of tines off and go from there. I used to only have a yamaha 250 so I looked around and found some old sears garden tractor disc and made a disc to use. I have seen people in Coffeville take a bush hog and cut as close as possible and sow patches with good results. You could use a harrow or old bed spring or chain link fence to break up the ground. The old saying, "where theres a will-there s a way." Get stubburn and get-r-done. GOOD LUCK!

This is my brother-in-laws's favorite technique, but not because his hunting place is hard to get at like some, he's just almost too lazy to breathe. Anyway.

If you ain't got a disc and your cultivator won't work for you, you can rough it up with a box blade using the teeth. Don't move any dirt just scrape enough to get topsoil showing through whatever's there. Plant it and drag it a lick and a promise and it'll probably come up. We've even planted some using a garden rake because you couldn't get a tractor in to them, they came up decent. Of course that's time consuming if you have a large planting area.
