Curtis Cab with heater pics

Very nice setup. I got the soft sided Curtis for my 2210. Same concern about garage door clearance. The roof is about 1/2" higher than the rops. That gives me about 3/4" clearance with the rear tires at 18lbs. I dropped that to 11lbs and picked up almost 3/4" more. That's with 400lbs of rear ballast.

I took about 4+ hours to install mine and another couple of hours to install the lights, overhead electric interior heater and electric wiper. I'm going with the Curtis heater soon, though the 800w heater does fine but I have to mount a 1000w Honda genset in the rear spreader to run it.

My windshield fogs without heat. I've been blowing in 10-20f and heat is mandatory..both to de-fog and to melt ice buildup.

I don't know why the cab would need to be removed in the summer. The doors pop off and the rear curtain velcros and pops out. That just leaves the frame, which is substantial, roof and windshield. The rops and the frame are close together so shouldn't be any more trouble than just the rops.

Pricey...but WELL worth it. Now, about the overhead console with the stereo...........

Rbarker...does the heater have a built-in fan switch? I see the major changes they did with the louvers and shroud. That should make it better for directing heat to the windshield, feet and body. I get drafts where the foot pedals go thru the floorboards and my lower legs/feet get chilly when it's really cold & blowing. But wearing mukluks and thermals works. I'd just like to kick back in a t-shirt & shorts while blowing. Isn't that decadent??

Bob, The Curtis Cab web site shows a TC40 with the cab and is shows the roof about 3-4" below the top of the ROPS so I'm fairly sure if my ROPS clears the garage door opening I will be all right. I was just concerned if the cab actually attached the the folding part of the ROPS that I might end up assembling the cab in my cold pole shed rather than the warmth of my garage. I've gotton soft as I've gotton older.

Bob,

Is it possible to quick detach the FEL without removing the cab completely? I looked at your front picture and it seems like the windshield may swing up to allow the joystick to tilt off with the loader but that is just my guess. I've looked at CozyCab and Sims and they can't.

Thanks,
Michael

Yes, it's possible but not in the traditional manner. You must remove the pins from the cylinder and the loader arm instead. In this way the hydraulics remain mounted on the tractor when the loader is off. It's a pain in the but to get them realigned for reinstallation but I'm working on a plan with the Dealer to address this. The new models have been re-engineered to leave the controls on the tractor while detatching in the normal way.

Here's a picture of the FEL detatched.

My folding ROPS barely clears the garage door opening (1/8" clearance). Does the Curtis cab attach to the ROPS on your Kubota?

No, the cab doesn't interfear with the ROPS or vice versa. But, the cab is an inch or so TALLER than the ROPS! This could be a problem for you? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif )</font>

Tcowner has a much larger tractor so I think the cab will actually be lower than the ROPS. I talked with Curtis about one for my L3010 and the cab is actually lower than the ROPS.

Take a look at the picture attached.

Bad news guys. The Curtis Cab wasn't shipped until Wednesday and won't be delivered until Monday or Tuesday. My weekend plans of assembling the cab have been put on hold.

What do I do now? I've already gotten the tractor ready for winter. I've got most of the wood cut for our recreational fires. I can't stand Christmas shopping (I'd rather have a root canal without anesthesia then spend time "at the mall".)

I know, some quality time with the wife, you know, just talking, maybe some cuddling? On second thought, maybe I will wash and wax the tractor so its ready for the new cab.

Oh good, I wasn't familiar with the tractor model so I wasn't sure.

Bob,

I am all too used to that mess when installing/removing the quick hitch. I'll have to check out the new design and see what can be done. Let me know if you discover a better way.

Thanks,
Michael
