Cushman mini-Truck or jumbo-UTV?

I have a friend that imports those trucks along with grey market tractors. His are straight from Japan, right hand drive too. He says the government is trying to crack down on them. I believe the EPA is the agency that has the problem with them. That is funny because the way I understand it Japan has more stringent environmental regs than we do. Anyway, he sells them as utility vehicles. I will try to dig up a picture he sent me this week of a "Realtree" camo job one of his customers done.

If I can remember next time I pass, there is a fork lift dealer near me that has a bunch of those on his lot. I can find out how much they run.

Yea, not a bad idea. I used my RTV to haul mulch the other day and it hold only 1.5 buckets from the skid steer and you still spill lots on the ground. On top of that a bunch of chips fell between cab and bed and landed on top of the exhust manifold and the darn thing caught on FIRE!!!!

Brent, does your friend who imports these have a website? Any idea on the pricing? Are his new or used? What about parts?

It strikes me that many of the UTVs are nice little units, but the better UTVs are in the $10,000 price range and still are very limited in their payload capacity (both due to tiny bed size and weight capacity). These things have beds sizes that are larger and they seem to have load capacities that range from 2000 to 2500 pounds so they can actually move dirt around the property. Let's face it, a Kubota RTV or JD Gator hauling one bucket of dirt is not any more efficient that simply driving the tractor with the same load across the property. But drop 3 to 5 bucket loads of dirt on the back of one of these and drive it to the other side of the property and the work will get done faster.

That's an interesting little vehicle. Kind of reminds me of a Daihatsu Midget.

I like that little camo mini-truck. You're right about a couple of buckets and either of my UV's bed is over-full. If I put two heaping bucket loads of wet clay soil from my 5030 into my RTV, it won't dump.

His mini trucks are used. His webpage is a single page but it has his contact info on it. His name is Bill Barnett. He and I used to work together. Barnett Tractor

I think the mini-truck is a great idea! We bought a Gator for transportation at our vacation/retirement home. We never intended to use it for a "work truck", if I need to move something I will use my F250. If we did not however have a truck the "mini" sure seems to make more sense than any UTV. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
