Well after doing some head scratching and searching for some type of boom lift to set the vert. PT posts on my retaining wall project I decided to build one. I started by designing a multi attachment frame that I could mount pallet forks, tow hitch, lift boom, and man lift to. I'm still working on the man lift and pallet forks, but here are a few pictures of the progress. This first picture shows the final fits for the attachment frame.

I like the concept.
Is that 2 inch receiver tubing?

Yes the main support is 2" receiver tube. I bought a 3' length and cut it for the tow hitch and support tube.

Nice Job! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I sure envy your welding skills. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I could blame my skills (or lack thereof) on my old AC buzzbox and damp rods, but nobody would believe the former; the latter, well, that's my own fault anyway. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Thanks for the compliment. I just bought a new millermatic 175 mig welder this past week. I had an older lincoln 135 that didn't get much use before I bought the 180 so I sold it. I'm a rooky at welding, but the 175 works great.

Great job! Wanna build one for a 425? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

So what else do you have planned for use in those two receivers?

Nice job Beechwood. I can't wait for some pics of it in action. I like the placement or should I say replacement of the PT's headlights too.

Just thought I would bring this to the top again. In case anyone might be interested in adding a little more capacity to your small rock bucket. I spotted this the other day. (Here) For those of us that have the small rock bucket and want to save a little money on buying the larger bucket. 95.00 plus 20.00 shipping. Looks like it would adapt pretty easy. 42 inches measured inside. The 180 rock bucket should match up. Might be a nice compromise. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

That is an interesting concept. I thought about doing something very simular with my small bucket , but I ended up buying the 7 cu/ft bucket about 6 months ago. I seldom use the 4 ft. bucket now.

I actually used to own one of those buckets for my craftsman tractor. (not the bucket doubler, just the 42" scoop) It's a great company and John stands behind his products too.

It fits the small rock bucket on the 180, I just thought it would be an option for anyone that wants a little extra capacity for toting things around the yard, but didn't want to spend the extra money for the larger LMB. I'll end up buying the LMB in time.

Although I still like my rock bucket for digging with the toothbar it has served me well. I know others swear by there LMB as the only way to go, nothing wrong with that. If I had to choose only one bucket for all of my needs then it would be the LMB /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Yes I started to buy one for our Craftsman LT, for the wife. She's feeling left out now that I cruise around on the PT, /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'll wait until I move up to the Craftsman GT. I think it would beat the little LT up over time. Funny how my city girl is starting to like riding around on the yard tractor. She hauls things around in the cart and mows the lawn. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif She wanted me to put the plow back on the Craftsman this winter so she could plow the driveway..

sounds like you found a keper, hope you know how lucky you are.

My wife kind of sneers in the PT's general direction, and mutters about how much room it takes to store all the implements in the garage (I keep my truck on the driveway so I can park my PT in the garage...) Drive it? No way.

LOL

Woman can be funny. My wife doesn't understand at my age of 52 why I want another Hot Rod or Harley either. Men just have a natural addiction to machinery that most women will never understand. Funny how those garages seem get used for everything else but a car. Try using the PT to plant your wife a garden or some other task she wants done around the house and she may come around.

After a while my wife liked the idea that she could direct me, move these rocks over here, haul those leaves over there and dump them. I just kind of grin. Now the PT is a useful tool and good friend along with the yard tractor. Now if I could just wear that little tractor out so I would have an excuse to buy a large GT with a 27 horsepower Briggs.
