I finally got tired of thinking about it and started fabricating the canopy for New Holland TT45A. It's going to be a full four post system with sweeps. It might take me a few weeks to fully finish it. I'll update photos as I make progress... So it begins! :)

This is what I got done today:

Framed the top out of 1 1/2 square tubing and put a complete perimeter weld on the 14GA sheet metal roof.

When I bought the steel I told the guy what I was building. He ask me "why so heavy". I told him I didn't want a limb to fall and damage it so I'm building it to where I'll never have to worry about it. He then ask "well how big of limb do you plan on falling on it" I told him I won't know until it happens so why take any chances.

That's going to be one stout canopy. Are you concerned about making your tractor top heavy?

What is your estimate of the final product's weight? It definitely looks like it will protect you from overhead objects.

I finished welding the rear mounting brackets on and the rear light tabs, the only things left on the top are the front light tabs and front post brackets and I don't want to mount them until I mount the canopy and remeasure to double check everything. The top weighs in at 147lbs. I know it might seem like I'm going a little overboard but I do a lot of bushhogging under a lot of low hanging oak limbs that would tear a regular canopy to pieces.

I'm happy with this weekend's progress. First this morning I had to build a hoist to lift the canopy on the ROPS, then I taped out the holes for the front post and welded the plates to the brushguard.

I had some spare time yesterday so I managed to fabricate the froward posts and canapy mounts for the sweeps.

 I noticed there is no FEL, if you decide you want one will the forward post be in the way?
