Neucam hit it right on the head. Until the wide front axle hits the physical stops on the frame, it is no more stable than a narrow front tractor.
If the tractor is squirley now, it is time to look aft, both in terms of weight and width. I am sure you have heard it before, always travel with the load as low as possible.
I owned both 3-wheelers and 4-wheelers. Either one will become tippy in the wrong conditions, or if the operator is unskilled or being careless.
