I am the dealer who sold Chuck his new M59. Let me try to unofficially clarify the position that the dealer and Kubota takes on fluids and filters:
If there is a warranty repair done that requires changing the hydraulic fluid (i.e. complete transmission failure, major engine failure, or any failure that would severely contaminate the fluid), Kubota will pay to have the fluid and filter changed. Also, Kubota will pay to "top off" a hydraulic system if a hydraulic repair is done under warranty (such as cylinder rebuild). Normally, the hydraulic oil and filter will not be changed during a simple cylinder repair or replacement unless, of course, there is evidence that there has been hydraulic system contamination. And no, a failed seal does not mean that there is contamination. Seals are like everything else, sometimes they get put in wrong, sometimes they just fail. It is unclear if the shop manager mis-spoke or was misunderstood, but this is a basic idea of the policy. However, as everyone knows, there are exeptions to every rule. I hope this helps to clarify both the dealership's and Kubota's position on this issue. I will also add that the work currently being performed on Chuck's tractor will not require him to pay for any fluids.
Thanks,
CB
