Those xenon bulbs do put out the light--The only thing that I have heard bad about them is that they have a relatively short life in a vibration environment. Do post some pics of what you did. That way it can show alternative ways to accomplish this objective.

How many amps do they draw? I wouldn't doubt they are much brighter, but i'm wondering how much they tax the charging system / wiring.

The Xenon bulbs that Lefty used are 20 watt (20/12=1.7 amps each) the MR 11's that I used are 1.1 watts (1.1/12= .1 amps) the 1156/7 equivalent BA 15s are 5 watt (5/12= .4 amps). You could have 18 of the MR 11's and draw less power than one of the xenon bulbs or 4 of the BA 15s'. When you only have 15 amps at max the margin of difference may be significant. another point to be made is that the LED's are rated for 50,000 hours. So in a very real sense they are lifetime bulbs.

That has given me an idea--what if you made a light housing rectangular in shape but with 3 of the MR11's in an array. One pointing straight ahead, the 2 on the sides angled in say 30 degrees--you would have a nice flood light for working and it would draw .3 amps.

Today I will be in town (Warsaw) and will look for a round aux light enclosure to try out the BA 15s' in it. I need some lights on the back--it is supposed to snow for the next 5 days. :D
