WroughtNHarv the initial surge wnat hurt you unless your on a walkbehind trencher. The initial surge i had was bladder related though. I was fixing my neighbors new yard with the old Ford backhoe and hit his house service. The power company had the underground service 5 inches deep. Seems theiy subbied it out to a flyby night company for some reason. I also know whay they call it 440 3 phase sounds like a .44 Magnum goin off lol.
The phone company here i nthe rural areas get there locates messed up all the time as they have several disontinued lines that they can pick up. I have a friend that does alot of locate work for a municipality in alabama. He showed me his new truck mounted baby a Vaxcavator. Its a prssure washer shop vac looking machine that usues water to liquify and errode the soil and a vacuum and tank to suck it up. this ouftit is simple We may build one for our own use out of an old pressure washer and a vacuum pump and tank. Its handy for doing spot checks in locates.
My friend Mr. Olen Parsons is a pistol. He was ubuidling his first truck shop and had the phone company do a locate for him. He had a fellow out there with a trencher and he cut the line that the phone company had marked for the other side of the road. It was a main line and on his side of the highway. It cut a main line to the next town. They billed the **** out of him and kept harrasing them about it andd he had the locate. They wanted about 800 bucks back in 77 to repair it. Mr. Olen went to the courthouse and got a land deed and took it and shoewed them that there was no easment for them to be on his proerty past the States' right of way and that if was to be continually harrassed he you tie the exposed end to his HD20 AC dozer and pull it up to the end of his property. Still no bill on it yet lol. Ive also known of some folks that had a tree blow down in a storm and its roots had grown around the the line. They had to go to cout over it to decide the repairs. He wont over the phone co.
