cutting a terrace across a hill side

Why couldn't you till it, then make a plate that goes between the blade and tractor that tilts the blade so when the tractor is on a slope the blade is level (you could make it adjustable). Then run your blade across to level it out. Just a thought.

Tractors already have this on the 3 point, one side is adjustable.

If you read your post aloud you will know what to do. Walk behind tiller vs excavator? Thats like shovel vs fingers! You don't want to run the hoe for 8 hours but you'll be walking behind that tiller for weeks!

The biggest problem is working on a terrace that is four feet wide. Kinda restricts what equipment can be used.:)

a three point rear blade should be able to do the job, with angle tilt, an old plow could work as well by multiple passes and widening the furrow

I would agree where slow is going. You should purchase, then sell once completed. your sale price will match your purchase price unless you march hundreds of hours or many years on the machine. And we are talking a used one. Heck, ask your rental house if they would sell you the machine that you have been renting.

THis would also be my recommendation.
