Cutting ditch with FEL?

I just did some of this. I had a heck of a time doing even rough grading with the fel. I do have a box scraper so did it easily with that. I think it can be done with the fel, depending upon the soil you are trying to get thru. It may not be pretty, but after 150' of it I expect you will be a hand. Good luck. Scraper is the way to go if you can get your hands on one.

Alright, you have inspired me.

I have needed to clean up the drainage ditches along the road for awhile but have been putting it off (like 2 years). The ruts left by the guy delivering hay last month have not help the situation.

We had rain last week and some at the beginning of the week-end, so today is the day.

Im with the other posters that feel that a boxblade is the right tool to use, if you dont have a small excavator with a long reach...

Also the video that Herkypilot posted is very good, just keep in mind that job wouldnt be so easily done in New England soil with all the rocks and roots that we have to deal with here !

I dont think that the OP mentioned his location and or the type of soil he was tryng to deal with, red clay with no rocks is a far cry from what we deal with here !

I agree, and in the situation you describe, I believe the loader bucket sure wouldn't be more successful, it would just beat the heck out of it. I believe you'd have to rent an excavator and dig as you go if there are that many rocks.
