Cutting edge for b21

Guys, need some help. I noticed on the new b26 that it came with a cutting edge on the front bucket. My dealer told me that it would not fit my b21 because the bucket is bigger. So I noticed that the 06 b21 came with one. They want 200.00 for the edge and 150.00 to install it. I dont know but I can buy a plow cutting edge for an 8 ft fisher for about 100.00. Is this price way out of whack. Does any one have any other suggestions. Thanks

Your dealer must not want to mess with this. The bolt on cutting edge for an GL series 72" HD bucket lists for $200 via the Kubota configurator. And the $150 to install it doesn't make sense, unless your B21 bucket did not come pre-drilled for the edge.

FWIW I did not pay anything close the prices in the configurator when I bought my GL3240 this summer. My 66" HD QA bucket came predrilled for the cutting edge.

Thanks guys. Talon Dancer you are right my bucket is not pre drilled with holes but I still thought that was kind of high. ill have to check around. Thanks again.

its a pain in the butt to install the edge on a non-drilled bucket. What they are asking may not be too unreasonable.

Frankly, you can almost buy a new bucket for the expense you'll go though. Why bother?

Whats wrong with buying a good sturdy over sized cutting edge and having it welded on. It will stiffen up your bucket and probably never need replacement?

That happened to my B7100 bucket when the original wore out.

Unless you are working with your loader continuously on concrete or asphalt conditions; a bolt-on cutting edge is a waste of money, plus additional weight. I have a 30 hp. tractor for 30 years with the original loader bucket for gravel, sand, and soil conditions, and occasions on concrete/asphalt. It's still in good condition. If you plan on pushing/removing snow on a hard surface; it maybe worth while? Consider you usage before spending your money, and common sense with the leading edge on hard surfaces.

If you have a welded on edge a welding shop can easily hard face it to stop it from wearing. Worn edges can be built up if not worn into the bucket.

Maybe another point of interest? If you decide in the future with your B21, to add a tooth bar for grading, leveling, and etc; that would require removing the add-on cutting bar to use the tooth bar, which would be a (PITA) to me.
That B21 is a good tractor, and very capable of a lot of work!
