yes
Is there a difference in performance from a straight cutting edge to a curved cutting edge on a grading implement?

Yes. A curved edge is a must on a box blade or implement with no down pressure. On a dozer a curved blade would shear off trees and such too easily instead of biting in and pushing it over so they use straight edges.
