I'm not offended that my post was edited. I'm not sure what happened as I wrote in Apple's pages and copied to this site's format. I noticed what I wrote was altered but figured it was good enough. My intent was to show those of you thinking of getting a flail mower what the cut on a lawn looks like at the lower roller settings. Also I thought it was cool that the "Y" knife could be set to de-thath. I hate that job.

Kkimura,
Thanks for posting your experience, When postings are written on alternative software and transferred to TBN, some characters Become distorted.
Many members are a fan of flail mowers as their popularity increases. They are believed to demand more hp than other mowing solutions. Hopefully you will ignore the "peanut gallery", and continue to post updates w/ your tractor and mower.

OVERSZD: I read your posts with attention.

It is pointless for some to post unintelligible mish-mashes of words.

The EDIT key is for everyone.

Paragraphing, or at least an effort to paragraph, is not difficult.

Definition of paragraph

1 a : a subdivision of a written composition that consists of one or more sentences, deals with one point or gives the words of one speaker, and begins on a new usually indented line

To convert an unparagrphed mish-mash of words into paragraphs, while maintaining the OP's sense, requires reading comprehension. I did not mention any errors, though the mish-mash includes some, as I comprehend the post. I merely edited the OP's mish-mash.

I speculate I spent more time with the EDIT than OP spent in the CREATION.

I'm positive you spent more time. That to me is the creepy part. The fact that you couldn't simply read the post and comment or not on the content. :)

I did post:

"This is not due to an elitist attitude. It is because it is difficult for me to read easily."

There was no attempt to put anyone down, or criticize them.

I'm fairly certain that I have some sort of learning disability that wasn't diagnosed when I was in school. I can comprehend things when they are presented in an orderly fashion, and have aced courses in electrical theory. I have trouble sorting things out when the writer just runs everything together.

To give you an idea of how things can look to me, take a large paragraph and eliminate all the caps, punctuation and spaces between the words.

The second issue is the misuse of words. My understanding of what the writer is attempting to convey loses its momentum when I get sidetracked thinking "that should have been too, not to", or "he meant vise, not vice".

And I was not criticizing you. Just stating what you further explained. No worries.

People are too sensitive. I would appreciate such help.

On another matter, I do wish that the titles were better on some posts. Without that, the search function on this site will be forever useless and that's a real shame, given all the knowledge here.

As for the flail mower. I bought my first 917 Ford, to replace a landscape contractor that never cut my grass in a timely manner for my weekend visits. I too found it lacking quality of cut and eventually got my JD 770 with belly mower. Then a Gravely walk behind, and finally a Steiner REAR discharge.

Nothing however, beats a push mower for cut quality.

Sensitivity isn't the issue. The point is simply that one member determines that the post of another is inferior.
Industrial is free to route his post through jeffy for editing.

Others are free to feel insulted or intimidated from posting do to a lurking cyber critic. A member should not feel humiliated because their composition lacks a Pulitzer Nomination. It is merely the theme of the post that actually matters. Previously stated, if a member is offended by sentence structure or .misspellings, move on, it is an imperfect world. Some of us can accept this fact without belittling and embarrassing others.

Ok to challenge erroneous facts and claims, or the poster's position, just not the manner , language or text in which such facts are presented . Actually, a reel mower produces a fine result.

EDIT:

Industrial,
Consider this. There are competitive venues that exist. Perhaps TBN isn't such a place, just a casual, imperfect, relaxed gathering of folks w/ tractor and related interests. No pressure to "best" each other, feel comfortable, not self-conscious in your own skin. No cyber hammers waiting to pounce. It is not a race or contest for valedictorian. "The smartest kid in the class" reminds us as such, w/ each of his posts.

I do see the point.

But I guess a person has the right to edit someones material and the OP has the right to "respectfully" tell them to mind their own business.

Technical information is difficult to convey. Some don't care about post content but more just the jibber jabber. Like the old farts who have to be at Mac Donalds in the morning to talk about nothing.

So, isn't it a good thing if people push others to better, interesting and useful material?

I am quite amazed at the general quality of the posts on here. But things could be much better if people would just proof read what they wrote. If they are going to take the time at all, why wouldn't they?

Personally, I would say it if you don't like how somebody has their post formatted. You can just reply with a quote then edit they're post inside the quote and put your answer after it. That way it's not so much in your face and still attributes the words to the original poster.

Exactly! I got confused because there was no (note of) attribution indicating that it was in fact an edit. Anyone doing this should indicate up-front that they are providing an edited version (and why). I agree that the original posting was/is hard to read (and I too tend to just glaze over when faced with posts like it0.

I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1965 at age seventeen. I started college with the University of Maryland military overseas program at age 19. My first prof was Ms. Joyce Felte, who taught English 101, The Sentence, and English 102, The Paragraph. She returned my papers brightened with red ink, indicating errors. Ms. Felte is one of the few college profs whose name I remember. I am grateful for Ms. Felte's corrections fifty years later.

Jeff, I don't doubt you remember Ms Felte's 50 years later, as you probably fantasize about her every time you SEE A RED PEN. That being said, you managed to turn this informational thread into a spelling and gRraMaticalized Edgification Epeeny'Ism, that I wasn't ready to be rationalizing @2am when I was searching for answers.

Thanks for ruining my 2minutes of clarity. :cool2:
