Yeah, that happens to me too, so I try to help others avoid it when I can - speaking of which, you can see by my pix here
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/build-yourself/374736-cutting-holes-steel-gate-post-8.html

that the full-sized annulars can be pretty messy - that's why I built that separate "drilling station" on its own separate bench (steel, 3/8" top, weighs about 450#) - it's away from other benches, sits on gravel inside a shed - a long narrow tray catches what little swarf/lube actually DROPS instead of flying (I blow it all down with air)

Then when I'm done, I "sweep" the area with these

3" Magnetic Sweeper with Wheels
Long Reach Magnetic Pickup Tool with Quick Release

Finding something the sweeper will dump into without spillage is tricky, so I keep a few larger pieces of cardboard around - "dump" the sweeper onto the cardboard, fold into a "vee" and dump the cardboard into the smaller container...

The pick-up tool gets into the corners, etc, where the sweeper can't.

I'm curious how much of that mess "little brother" will make, mine are supposed to be here in the next couple days. Hopefully a few of my "tricks" will help you keep things under control... Steve

I brush my shavings out of the way and chase after them later with a shop-vac.
