Cutting PTO shaft to size for CK-30

I just took delivery of a CCM tiller and some other implements for my ck30. I have never even removed the installed bush hog from the tractor.

I expect to have to cut the PTO shaft when fitting the new tiller. Is there anything special regarding the CK30 telescoping 3 pt hitch when doing this? I found little in the manual or online searches.

The telescpoping hitch ends should have no bearing on the PTO shaft length. The operating position for those hitch ends is all the way in so be sure to get them back home before you do any measuring. I drive them home by lifting the implement and pulling it towards the tractor, you want them to latch.

When I attach the 3ph implements I have found it best to go in this order:

1) remove the stabilizer pins and attach the non-height adjustable 3ph arm to the implement.
2) Then attach the right one using the crank to adjust height to line it up and telescoping end as needed.
3) Attach PTO.
4) attach top link
5) raise implement with 3ph and manipulate it to get the telescoping 3ph ends latched home.
6) center the implement between the tires with the 3ph stabilizers.
7) adjust top link to get it close.

I read up on proper PTO length....about 2/3 of it should overlap...minimum 6 inches. There was a nice writeup on the cut procedure on the bush hog web site. Looks Like I will be cutting it some.

Trying to get it set up so there is a minimum of adjustment required when changing implements. I do have the telescope section of the 3 pt fully in, but I did not know that was operating position. Good to know.
